糖类是血清代谢物质的一种,糖代谢对机体新陈代谢有重要意义,代谢异常时可引发机体各种疾病,如糖尿病及其并发症、蚕豆病、肝病等。

此外,糖代谢异常是肿瘤代谢突出的特征之一。糖酵解是生物体内普遍存在的能量代谢过程,指在氧气不充分的条件下,葡萄糖经一系列酶促反应生成丙酮酸,进而还原成乳酸的过程,也称无氧氧化。在有氧的情况下,机体细胞主要通过氧化磷酸化途径获得能量,糖酵解受到抑制。然而在恶性肿瘤中,即使氧供应充分,糖酵解也十分活跃。肿瘤细胞有氧糖酵解能力是正常细胞的20 ~ 30倍,为肿瘤代谢提供大量能量和中间产物,此即Warburg 效应。因此,靶向糖酵解等异常环节的代谢酶是抗肿瘤治疗的重点。一些研究显示,抑制肿瘤细胞糖酵解途径能够有效抑制肿瘤细胞的增殖甚至可以起到杀伤肿瘤细胞的作用。
