铜离子是所有生物必不可少的辅助因子,但当其浓度超过一定阈值时,就会对机体产生毒害作用。铜死亡的发生机制明显区别于已知的细胞凋亡、焦亡、坏死及铁死亡的细胞死亡方式:铜离子通过直接结合三羧酸(TCA)循环途径中的脂酰化成分,导致脂酰化蛋白异常聚集以及铁硫簇蛋白的丢失,从而导致蛋白质毒性应激反应并导致细胞死亡。铜死亡与肌萎缩侧索硬化症(ALS)、乳腺癌、黑色素瘤、成神经细胞瘤、和前列腺癌等疾病有关。 TargetMol 铜死亡化合物库集合了 400 种与铜死亡相关的化合物,可以用于铜死亡机制及相关疾病研究
